Norton 3X Sandpaper

Has anyone else used Norton's 3X sandpaper? I've just recently started
using this stuff, and WOW! I was pretty skeptical about the "works 3
times faster, lasts 3 times longer" claim, but I'm completely sold.
Very good stuff.

Yep - definitely good stuff. Looking forward to a road trip past a
Woodcraft - their advertised price of $9.99 per box of 20 sheets is the
cheapest I've seen. Though it is nice to have a quality woodworking
product that's (at least usually) stocked by the local borg, even if it
is an extra couple bucks.
I really like Mirka Gold discs for the ROS, but I haven't seen sheets
of that in a store. May order some online. I've heard that Klingspor
(Stearated?) is top-of-the-line also, but again, I haven't found a
local source.
Can anyone speak from experience whether either of these are better
than 3X, and therefore worth the extra shipping charges of ordering
online?
Thanks,
Andy

I was going to ask about the Klingspor also. I've used the Norton in
the past and remember liking it but after using some 150 Klings I had
to go back to the cabinet and pull a sheet to see who made this stuff.
It was really great. It just never broke down. I was also doing lots of
corner softening with a plam sander and it even held up to that (far a
while).

I've been meaning to ask the shop owner if he pays much more for this
stuff because i want it available in all the grades and he still has
some other generis stuff in stock for the others.

Yep ... AAMOF, just stocked up again, in all grits, just last week (busted
hell out a $100 bill). I've used better sandpaper, but none that is as
readily available.

I really like 3X for hand sanding, but still prefer Mirka Gold discs for
power sanding. I think 3X discs have a slight edge over Mirka, but not
enough to make up the price difference.

Same here. I never thought I'd get enthused about sandpaper, but this stuff is
pretty amazing. To me, it feels like it cuts like the next coarser grit, but
leaves a finish you'd expect from the grit it really is. (e.g., the 150 cuts
like a 100, but leaves a surface like a 150.)
