TS fence upgrade?

Hello, everyone. I'm a relative woodworking newbie, who's been lurking
here for a while, waiting til I had a burning question to ask.

I own a Delta 36-650 contractor's saw that I'm happy with, for the most
part. However, I do have an issue with the stock fence (I believe it's
called the "Unirip" fence). It's not a bad fence by any means.
However, I've noticed that the rear of the fence has a bit more play
than I would like. The result is that when I'm ripping long sheet
stock, I don't get a perfectly straight cut; it's out in places by as
much as 1/16", occasionally more. I've double checked my set up, and
everything seems OK there.

The obvious solution would seem to be to buy a new fence. However, I
can't quite swing the price of a Biesemeyer or Unifence. The Mulecab
Accusquare fence (http://www.mulecab.com/) is more within my budget.
If anyone has experience with this fence, do you know if it would be a
worthwhile upgrade over the stock Delta fence? Any other similarly
priced options you would recommend?

Thanks in advance

You have many choices. I, IMHO, would buy a Beisemeyer fence sysyem.
You have the choice of 28"....40"....52" to the right of the blade and
12" is standard to the left. Take a look at their web site. They also
offer"scratch & Dent" sales. Good luck.

I have had the Accusquare fence installed on my Craftsman contractors
saw for over two years now. I have not been disaapointed in any way. I
would heartily recommend it.

I just installed a Vega Utility 50 fence that I bought locally for $272 with
tax. It was a breeze to install (took about 1.5 hours) and squares up with
simple adjustments. The fence is pretty beefy and the rails are massive.

Just a quick warnng, DON'T order it from Amazon Tool Crib. Even thought the
price is only $229, they CANNOT deliver it. I waited for about 45 days
before I cancelled and then ordered it locally.

I kind of agree... The OP was cutting sheet goods (like a 4x8 foot
"sheet" of plywood... and his saw was a contractors saw...

I am not at all surprised that the fence may move 1/16 of an inch
I would attempt to clamp down the fence before I went out shopping for
a new fence...

If you're sure that the problem is caused by play at the rear of the
fence, perhaps you could clamp the rear down when ripping long sheet
stock.
