I inherited a Marsh wood plane from my father-in-law. It's comparable to a
Stanley No. 4. I cleaned it up and got it in good working order. Sure
looks like a Stanley/Bailey design. The sole say's "Marsh" in front of the
knob. The blade says, "H. C. Marsh, Rockford, Ill."
I just searched the 'net to see what I could find out about H.C. Marsh in
Rockford, IL. I couldn't find much.
Does anyone know anything about this company and their tools? When were
they around? When did they go out of business?
Any info is appreciated!

You know, I did notice when I had this plane apart that the frog seemed a
little "beefier" than the Stanley's, Defiance, and other planes I've got on
my shelf.
The Old Tools Archive had what I wanted about the H.C. Marsh Company.

A really big sigh. Stanley doesn't make garage doors. And the company they had
licensed to do so went belly up a year or two ago.
