OT: a suggestion for altering the PWs behavior :)

So I just spent a few minutes Kill Filtering with Agent, and it
occurred to me that we (as a group) may be able to help ~train~ ole
PW.

If it could be established which group the PW frequents, we could all
go over there for a couple weeks and just start posting our normal
woodworking traffic, as if nothing ever happened.

I mean, I have been lurking a while, and we generate 200-300 msgs
daily.

Wouldn't it be grand to have some of THEM have to sift through OUR
traffic for once?

And if we got some of the pet folks irate, we could just keep our cool
until our demands were met. We would occupy the pet group until Mr.
PW posted a promise to stay off of rec.woodworking

If any legit pet traffickers asked, we will just respond "Ask the PW"

The toughest, most important part, is that we all remain civil. We
have a reputation to uphold ya know.

It would take a group effort. The lurkers would have to commit. We
could leave a couple forwarding messages in the rec.woodworking group
that say" We've gone fishing for Trolls in alt.... pet whatever... be
back in a month, or come on over and join the effort..."

Is it even worth considering? I admit I really like the idea, but
maybe someone has a good idea why it wouldn't work out.

I mean, if I have to spend several minutes kill filing a half dozen
wackos.... just imagine the pet folks trying to kill file ~all~ the
wreck regulars???

I spent some time in those groups. He's totally impervious and any
response means he replies 10-fold, and I mean ANY response.

The man is seriously unhinged, and the only acceptable response is to
ignore him totally.

Nothing else works, and will only increase the traffic from him here.

Even threads like this are risky, so this will be my only post on the
subject.

that is a STUPID idea! Ever hear of the Golden Rule?? Wise up, and
leave the folks in the other NG's alone, for God's sakes!

Now wonder your byline is "Turkish"; you are a Turkey

Well, you're assuming that PW is a generally accepted and welcomed
member of the pets group. Then furthermore you assume that by his being
accepted and welcomed that such justifies impairing the enjoyment of
Usenet by the other members of the pets group.

Concerning the first assumption, I am not a reader of rec.pets, but I
gather that PW is a (the?) resident whack-job there.

As for the second assumption, I prefer to presume innocence regarding
others.

That idjits been in rec.pets for a long time. I have been there long
before the glue incident, and occasionally afterwards. I hardly notice him
their anymore, my filters work good. The don't like him either, and they
constantly get on people buts about removing the cross postings from it.
They don't deserve a troll war in their group at all.

BTW: it's rec.pets.dogs.behaviour

I meant this only as a method for peer pressure toward PW to back
off... Since the ethereal pressure of alt.complaints may or may not
persuade him...

It seems as though he has some communications with folks that value
his ideas, and he has construed that to mean that ALL of us have
nothing better to do than be bothered with his verbage.

I was just hoping that the pet "village" would see that their "idiot"
has wandered into the wrong group, and maybe they could come claim
him.

clearly I was suggesting a tactic that was too aggressive. Comes from
a few too many years in the 82nd I suppose.

Oh well

PW has no peers other than other trolls - I sorta like the idea though.
Instead of a legit group like .pets, we ought to comandier (sp?)
alt.troll. Just begin posting there as if nothing at all is out of place.

wouldn't work, but I like the oblivious-to-others factor to it.

Yeah. I just added a bunch of filters to kill the off-topic stuff. As
much as I enjoy general intellectual discussion, there isn't much in those
OT threads, responding to the trolls is fruitless, and it's just
distracting. I've managed to kill most of it by axing posts taht contain
the words Islam, Jew, Christian, Gay, and OT. I love talking about that
kind of stuff but it just creates more noise and dilutes the quality of
the NG.
