G'day,
We have 2 Bosch routers, GOF 1300 ACE models (i think they have a different
model designation in the US), that have a pivoting lever mechanism to lock
the spindle to change router bits. Well in the space of 3 weeks the section
of the casting that the pivot for this lever fits into has snapped off.
Anyone else have this problem.
Thanks,
Grant.
Well they are the school's routers. We have 2 Makita 3612C's and bought the
Bosch routers a while ago because some students found the weight of the
Makitas too much and the Bosch ones seemed good at $300AU at the time and
with a distinct difference in weight. So i also have to try and fit the
money for repairs or replacement into our faculty budget.
I'm leaning towards getting 2 smaller 1/4" plunge routers instead of paying
$150AU to repair each router because they have to replace the whole casting.
Thanks,
Grant.

Nope, but I use wrenches.

If you do go to a couple small routers, don't go cheap.
I learned the hard way. 2 cheap ones, and 1 1/2 years later, both were
broke.
Some of the kids have no respect for tools, and try to break them.
How do I know? I'm a high school shop treacher , too.
