In 1954 I was 2 years old.
I've never watched pay t.v. -- but I'm glad that there is another source
of free t.v. because I actively dislike most of the programming coming
in off the air. I can tolerate about 7 minutes worth of "60 Minutes". If
I am anyones target audience, they missed me.
I watched the woodworking channel someone (the OP?) posted recently. No
adulterous women (Desperate Housewives), no nekkid cop butts (NYPD
Blue), no totally clueless (how did they ever manage to breed?) parents
(The Nanny), no criminal instruction how-to (CSI Everywhere).
Just woodworking. And everybody was fully dressed. There wasn't even a
same-sex kiss.
I'm glad he posted that link. I've never seen NYW or TOH or any of the
other woodworking shows I keep seeing scattered mention of. But last
week I -did- see a half dozen woodworking shows ranging from a router
technique show (good technique, putzy design) to a woodturning
demonstration of teensy-tiny finials by a Florida schoolmarm.
When I get a spare 9 minutes, I'll probably watch it again.

Knowing Autodesk, they will probably tell you that it won't even if it will.
I know people right now that are still using R-14. The company hasn't
supported that version in years. When you install the program, is there some
kind of online activation process you have to go through? If not, it should
function just fine. Much software out there is no longer supported by the
parent company but continues to function just fine (such as the operating
system I am using right now).

Which way are you guys bragging on? How old you are or how young you
are.
For the record, in 1955 I was nine...in people years.

I did not realize how old I was getting at 32 until a new hire "girl" could
not tell me what elementary school she attended.

Geez. I have a drill (and a saw, and a hammer...) older than
you...that I bought new.

LISP and VBA are programming languages. Full Autocad and Intellicad (all
versions) can be programmed for special functions. LISP is the most commonly
used. An example would be to have a LISP program to find and count the
instances of a block or entity type in a drawing. Can be useful for making a
bill of materials. SDS is a programming environment for more extensive
programming such as developing add on architectural functions. LISP is the
most commonly used and many, if not most, Autocad users use it. The lack of
LISP capability is the biggest reason that many people will not switch to
LT. The majority of Autocad users don't use the 3D capability so LT would
work just fine for them if the LISP capability was there. Autodesk knows
this and will never include LISP in LT for this reason.

Thanks, it is good to know that the education version actually expires.
I'll not go that route both down sides suck.
My concern is that my 2004 version is going to be obsolete soon and I wonder
if after they no longer support the program if I will be able to install it
on another computer if I up grade computers. I guess I'll have to a-mail
them and find out.
Thank you.
Yes, different vendors develop and add their own features. None of the add
ons are basic functions. They are usually special function toolbars or
architectural features (block libraries, et). The one that I use is from
CMS. It is the base program from the Intellicad Consortium. I use the pro
version but, even in the light version, it has features that ACLT does not
such as align command, LISP, VBA. I have not used ACLT, just the full
version so I am going by feature comparison charts as to the features has.
$135.00 for ACLT is a good price but be aware that there are a couple of
down sides to the educational version. It expires in two years. Also, when
you print, there is a banner printed across the sheet saying that it is an
educational version. This may not be important to you but do not send a file
to another AC user. Word has it that if he opens your file, his prints will
then have the banner. It takes a call to Autodesk support to get it removed.
The LT version of Intellicad is good for commercial use, does not expire and
will run you $110.95. The Pro version gives you raster images and ACIS 3D.
Download the trial version from CMS to see what the basic product is as put
out by the ITC, all version from every vendor will have at lest this.

Well, according to NJ Transit rules I'm a senior citizen. No more monthly
tickets, I use the less than half fare one-way tickets now. $2 each way to
Hoboken, if the tickets get collected.

Yeah, there is an activation process IIRC. That is what I am concerned

While I have your attention, Intellicad. Yes I am still debating getting
it. I can get the Student version of AutoCAD LT 2007 for $135. Intellicad
is all different prices from different publishers. Were you aware that
depending on which company you buy Intellicad from you might get different
features in the program?
