BTW, it's still free, they just don't have it prominently displayed on
their site.
The free AVG antivirus is located at the bottom of their full product
listing page:
http://www.grisoft.com/doc/products/lng/us/tpl/tpl01
I upgraded mine to 7.5 and haven't been nagged yet, and don't expect
to. :-)

Clay's link is better. It takes you right to the proper page. :-)
Just choose your OS, and it should start the download.

FREE DOWNLOAD OF AVG AntiVirus Free 7.5.430a828
Is there something about computers that bring out the stupid people of the
world? The center piece hustle of this download site failed to mention that
as of Feb 18 or so AVG will no longer be FREE....nor that it was freely
available at AVG's web site anyway....
Incidentally for current AVG users whom wish to continue with "free "for
their Virus software it appears that PCtools offers one
http://www.pctools.com/anti-virus/
I've installed it on a relatives sick PC and it found nefarious things but
I can't claim any other long term experience....Rod

Bingo ... I've been using it ever since the "free" version of Symantec
went belly-up on my laptop.
They DO sell a couple versions, but the free one works well enough for
my needs.

I have tried to upgrade twice and got mired in pages of crap that was trying
to get me to buy something.
Is there a quick, straightforward process I can use to do a simple upgrade
of the free version? Couldn't I just download the new version without
jumping through al the hoops?

If you look at the information on the page prior to the download, it
states that you get the full commerical version for 30-days, and then
it reverts to the free version if you don't purchase it. The
real-time scanner is one of the features that is disabled, along with
automatic updates (though I assume you can choose to manually update
it)

Yes I have but I just switched to Spyware Terminator which is also free
and has a real time scanner. seems to be very effective also has built
in anti-virus. I still use AVG Anti-virus also. Jim
