I think it has been probably been exaggerated somewhat but I've never been
"into" that sort of stuff either. You won't catch me anywhere near KFC or
Macdonald's and if I'm buying chicken I always buy whole breasts.
There have been similar articles in british newspapers and TV programmes
highlighting the issues and total lack of hygiene, like stuff that has
fallen on the floor being swept up and put back into the production line.
Not just chicken but all meat products - burgers, pies, sausages....

To use a commom expression "bums, tits and testicles"
Yes, I like my sausages too but I buy only from my local butcher because
a) I trust him b) he has won a lot of awards for his sausages and c) they
taste really good.
However, I suppose that at the end of the day, we should ask ourselves the
question - Whatever our delicate western minds may think about certain
foods, does it actually harm our bodies, can we digest and make use of the
"fuel" ?
(hygiene issues, which seem to require the use of strong bacteriacides not
considered)
I know plenty of people who are disgusted at the thought of eating liver
or kidneys and as for black pudding - " It's made from BLOOD!" (scream
and faint)
Now, I enjoy Liver, Kidney, black pudding and heart too. I've tried tripe
(it was one of my father's favourites) but didn't like it. A "real
haggis", which includes various types of offal including lung tissue comes
in a sheep's pluck (stomach) and goes down a treat. (No, you don't
normally eat the wrapper!). Sausages, of course, traditionally use
intestine for the skin but I believe they are now mostly artificial.
On the other hand, to an Arab, who most likely being a Moslem, wouldn't
dream of touching anything pork, sheep's eyes are considered a delicacy
and an Australian aborigine would enjoy a nice tasty grub - now I'm
feeling a trifle squeamish! :-)

Ahhh yes sausages (love'm so). A butcher's way to max out on his
trash.... but dammit, there's some really nice spicing and use of
herbs gone on over the years. But the fact is that the bulk is nothing
but fat and salt and filler.....

OK, I am only buying proper chicken parts or whole birds from now on,
that is just gross. I was never into nuggets and chicken patties
anyway, now I know why.
