Hi, I'm completely new at this game, and am considering getting a
BO5010 sander to strip a couple of doors etc.
I was wondering whether it's possible to attach a domestic vaccuum
cleaner hose (I have a Dyson) to the BO5010 to help with the dust
extraction as some of the work will have to be indoors.
Any help greatly appreciated,

Hi Roch,
The short answer is yes. As the dust collection outlet is so small you
will need a couple of transitions from the vacuum hose to the sander, I
have bought small black tubing (sump pump grade tubing) in a variety of
sizes from HD. Using a heat gun (hair dryer) you can shrink the tubing
to the needed size.
I am not familiar with your vacuum but if you cannot turn the suction
down you will need to put a hole or two inline to allow for some bypass
air as the opening to the sander is not large enough to let enough air
through to cool vacuum's motor. Good Luck, JG

Something that has worked well for me is boat bilge pump hose. Both the
blue and orange borg carry it, its a lightweight white hose in their
plumbing department sold by the foot. Its very light since there is no
metal "spring" running through it like a household vacuum hose and is
lighter than regular shopvac hose. It fits the 1" outlet on my PC ROS and
gripvac router handle perfect, I then adapt is down to my old (noisy)
shopvac, toss the shopvac outside and close the door mostly shut on the
hose and plug in an extension cord to turn it on. I've been eyeing those
little $35 2 gallon shopvacs which are real small and hopefully quieter
than my old one, I just can kill the old one to get an excuse to buy a new
one :)
