I may have said this before, but...
It's Saturday - most of the world must post from work as the volume in
all but one of the 15 or so newsgroups I read daily has gone down to
about 25% of weekday volume. Happens every weekend :-).
The exception is this group :-). I never thought of us as on the cutting
edge, but we must have a lot more home systems than most folks.
Maybe more of us are retired or work from home? Anyone ever looked into
this?

It probably has more to do with having other things to do on a day off than
post to a newsgroup. Many at work need a real job rather than posting on a
newsgroup all day.

Part of my job *is* farting around online, but only as it relates to my
profession. I mostly read and post from home, very rarely over lunch.

Only for about 2 or 3 hours a day...

I've been out of work for many months. Days of the week have lost
their meaning and it feels like a never-ending weekend. I wouldn't
wish this on my worse enemy. Gives me a lot more shop time, but no
money for buying wood. I seem to gravitate toward trees being cut
down and there's more logs in my shop.
I work at home.

Never really thought about it in that light. I *have* noticed how many
people in various places post from work. That has always blown my mind.
What are they doing f*ing off on the clock anyway?
Maybe I just think that way because I've never had a job where there was a
computer in my workplace.
Well, that's not exactly true, but close enough. I've never had the option
to fart around online instead of working.

Yeah, I know the feeling. I just finished--finally--putting in the baseboards
in our living/dining room area, and the downstairs bath. So a break is called
for even if they were only MDF.
But a home office does get overly demanding at times.
