Iraq war veteran Lieutenant Colonel Dennis Walburn skis on one leg at Vail,
Colorado March 2, 2006. Walburn, with the U.S. Joint Improvised Explosive
Device Defeat Organization is recuperating after he lost his leg in a
roadside bomb attack in Mosul, Iraq in May 2005. Twenty-four soldiers, all
amputee patients at Walter Reed Army Medical Hospital in Washington, D.C.
who were wounded in action in Iraq are at Vail to spend the weekend learning
to ski and snowboard.
