The Wild Earth Woodworking School, Hudson, Wisconsin, is hosting an
Open House on August 4, 11-3. (Rain date Aug 11.) The Open House is
a way for prospective students to see our facility and meet our
instructors. We also use it as a way to give back to the community.
This year we're turning pens for the Freedom Pen Project. Thanks to
Freedom Pens and a very generous donation from Woodcraft we're set up
for 280 pens. Turned by those who attend the Open House, the
completed pens will then be shipped to active military.
We're also helping out the St. Paul (MN) Police Mounted Patrol. The
Patrol depends a lot on private donations to keep going. One mounted
officer can do the work of approximately ten officers on foot. Many
tool companies have come forward with donations for our tool raffle
and silent auction. ALL proceeds from the raffle and auction will go
to the Mounted Patrol. An officer, and his horse, will be on hand.
Tools continue to roll in, so the list on the web page will continue
to grow.
If you're in or near western Wisconsin (we're 30 miles east of St.
Paul, MN), stop in and spin a pen or get a raffle ticket. You'll be
helping out two great groups of people; members of the military and
the police force.
