Every year an independent tax watchdog group analyzes the average tax
burden on Americans, and then calculates the "Tax Freedom Day". This
is
the day after which the money you earn goes to you, not the
government. This year, tax freedom day was April 11th. That's the
earliest it has been since 1991.
It's latest day ever was May 2nd, which occurred in 2000. Notice
anything special about those dates?
(Hint who took over in 92, and who left in 2000 . . a Democrat)
====================================================================
Recently, John Kerry gave a speech in which he claimed Americans are
actually paying more taxes under Bush, despite the tax cuts. He gave
no explanation and provided no data for this claim.
====================================================================
Another interesting fact: Both George Bush and John Kerry are wealthy
men.
Bush owns only one home, his ranch in Texas. Kerry owns 4 mansions,
all worth several million dollars. (His ski resort home in Idaho is an
old barn brought over from Europe in pieces. Not your average
A-frame).
====================================================================
Bush paid $250,000 in taxes this year; Kerry paid $90,000. Does that
sound right? The man who wants to raise your taxes obviously has
figured out a way to avoid paying his own.

Larry,
Here's laughing right back at you. Since they are "secret" How does Kerry know about them. Was he invited to the "secret" planning
meetings? This whole election is becoming a joke.
The latest is that the DNC has recruited 10,000 lawyers to be disbursed to the polling places to make sure that everyone who WANTS
to vote democratic can. Not EVERYONE or everyone who is legally eligible to vote, just those who want to vote for the democrats.
It looks like the after election folly this year will make 2000 look like a dream election.

Yeah, it's clear what you use to make your decisions. Too bad you don't
look at, you know, who misses 76% of the senate intelligence committee
meetings he's supposed to go to, and then quits, and then pretends to care
about that sort of stuff when it's time to lie about it during the

Funny how the same people who complain that he was "on vacation"
also complain about a particular briefing that happened while he
was _on "vacation"_. He was doing his job while not in Washington.
Kerry didn't do his job when he missed the intelligence committee
meetings; his job was to be present for them, he missed 76% of
them, then he quit entirely, and now he pretends to care about it.
If you really think any President gets an actual _vacation_ when
they're away from Washington DC, you're delusional.

He won't. He can't. When one has to resort to lies about the person
you don't like, it's an admission that you can't argue based on facts.

What, that Bush's holdings are in a blind trust? I'm comfortable with that
fact. Why does it matter to you? Why do you tolerate your boy missing all

The cool thing about that is you would probably win all the arguments
with Bush.
You know, Bush went to boarding school in the NE. He then went to
college at Yale. His brother doesn't have the "Tex" accent. I would
rather drink with a person that was himself and not his portrayal of an
image of what he wants to appear to be.
Like said earlier, both of them are millionaires who don't have a clue
what a loaf of bread costs or a gallon of gas, unless their advisors are
smart enough to keep telling them.
I'd rather drink with a working man (vs a politician) any day.

When did that become law? I remember the Jimmy Carter
<http://www.paulownia.com/auction.html> was the first
President to do that, voluntarily, and Reagan scoffed
at the suggestion he chould do the same. Haven't heard
about it since.
I think campaign funding should all be done by blind
trusts, and it should be legal to lie to the candidates
about donating to it.

What I've always thought was interesting isn't that Kerry married money
nor that Bush was born with money--both events are relatively common.
But Therese Heinz-Kerry married not one, but TWO US Senators, which is a
far less common event. Why I'd bet you can count the people who have
done that on one finger.
Bush does indeed have a stake in a timber company - a business he's so
little involved with that he apparently forgot about it.

I almost kept my pledge to stay out of there OT political threads.
This is another example of how those without a valid argument on an issue,
with a candidate without a clear, substantive record, who has been
constantly on the wrong side of history, resort to making things up to use
against their opposition.
Here are a few of Kerry's lies:
1. GWB has a secret plan to deny senior citizens their Social Security.
2. GWB has a secret plan to reinstate the draft.
3. GWB has a secret plan to deny minorities the right to vote.
You know a candidate has no record of accomplishments to tout and any clear
vision of where to lead this country when he resorts to out and out lies to
scare the old, the young and the disadvantaged. I can't wait until the
election is over and we go back to all of the whining about how GWB stole
the election.

So how will this happen ? Unofficial watchers in polling places

I betcha Jeb will have a whole bunch of these good Christian

Perhaps if Jeb's "state police" hadn't gone to black people's

His wife has the big bucks. I don't suppose you want to list combined
taxes. In either case:
Now the fact my filters didn't catch the obvious political subject is,
at some level, my fault, but this is woodworking so please go pollute
someone else's newsgroup. At the minimum start your subject line with
Pol: or [Pol].
(snip) Did you start this thread, with its dishonest title ? If not, why

ok.. let's try to put this stupidity to rest once and for all for this
newsgroup...
Bush has an investment in The Lone Star Trust, an oil & gas company, which
purchased an interest in LSTF, LLC. This company purpose is the production
of trees for commercial sales.
He owns part interest in a tree growing company....not a timber company. He
does not own interest in a logging company nor a mill..... it's a freaking
tree farm!!
This investment is tied to the fact that the oil & gas companies replant
trees in areas damaged by the process of acquiring the oil & gas. It's an
effort to repair the environment...
Sounds to me he ought to be lauded for improving the environment.
