Dear Mr. Self,
I would like to apologise for the cheap shot I took at you the other
night. I did not dishonor you, I dishonored myself. Your opinions are
yours. I have no right to attack you because of them. To do so from a long
distance telephone line was not very manly. I never considered myself a
'cheap shot artist', but after my behavior the other evening, I'm not sure.
I don't take a very active role in the 'Woodworking' part of this news
group because I only look at it once or twice a week and any question or
problem I can assist with has already been resolved. I will probably not
participate in the OT stuff; at least not until I can conduct myself in a
more civil and gentlemanly manner.
If I offended others, I didn't intend to and I apologize.
Sincerely,
Henry

I get lost in either town, but that's only cause I only get to either
one only once in a blue moon, and usually to ride the BRP on the
motorcycle, so I'm not really getting into either town.

Apology accepted, though in truth, I've been so busy I almost forcot
the incident.
Otherwise, ignore the beerheads: they're just building up a stock of
burps.

I quit drinking nearly 20 years ago, but if you're by this
way--soouthwest VA--check me out in the Bedford phone book and give a
yell.
I doubt the best scotch would bring happiness to a lawyer: what does,
IME, is the ability to charge $500 and up an hour with 180 billable
hours in the week. The happiness is especially sweet if all his
colleagues are limited to 80 billable hours and $300.

Roanoke is 35 miles west, Lynchburg (Jerry Falwell's Joint) is 30 miles
east. I prefer Roanoke...it's slightly larger, for one thing, and I
spent my single days down here mostly in and around there, so can find
my way around, sort of.

Like the one three miles up the road from me. Green oak has just taken
a mighty leap in price...70 cents a BF.

Never had the pleasure. I take it it's a nice little drink? Splash of
diet coke, twist of lime, and all that?

Oh, believe me, my tongue was firmly in cheek when I wrote that. Just
started a nice bottle of Scapa 14 year, not a pricy malt but some great
complexity.

Was in L-burg for 10 yrs at B&W NPGD. Having access to all the hardwood
of the little mills around was what got me actually started in
woodworking...

Thank you. I don't know if I am man enough not to take things like that
personally. Actually, I love the beerheads (I'm a brewer amongst other
things) and would not only brew, but be delighted to pour and drink wih
them all. Single malts, be they from the highlands, isles, maybe the
lowlands (tastey, but doesn't have the peat or rich taste I savor, must
have been caused by the occupation of a longtime ago); the Irish malt
now, these poor wretches (are there rich wretches (I don't want to go

drop that would bring happiness to a lawyer.
Charles, I would really like to share a cup of coffee, tea, a beer,

Thank you for your graciousness.

Well spoken, Henry...
As we grow older (but hopefully not up) we learn that it takes much more
intestinal fortitude to apologize than it does to offend..

And it's so much more important isn't it?
Odd how things change as we age.
As a Young Turk, I really didn't care who I offended/slashed/insulted with
my acerbic, sophmoric "wit".
I've still got a long way to go - but I think I'm starting to see a little
bit of the beauty behind "wisdom".

I quit 20 years ago this past July. I used to travel a lot close to
your neighborhood (have several friends in Roanoke and Lynchburg and my
