Just a rookie getting into cabinet making for my house. Bought a nice
General 650 saw and slowly getting some other essentials. BUT, does
anyone have a recommendation on good, real world, basic cabinet
making? Just basically want to know how to make standard issue
uppers, lowers, built-ins, face-frames, euro vs traditional, etc.
Most that I run accross are so off-target and fragmented.
Thanks,
Kane

Kitchen cabinets?
"Building Kitchen Cabinets", Udo Schmidt, Taunton Press
"Building Traditional Kitchen Cabinets", Jim Tolpin, Taunton Press
Almost anything Danny Proulx or John Paquay have written.
And for good, basic woodworking procedures, "Tage Frid Teaches Woodworking,
I & II", is just about as good as it gets.
Some good clamps and a large, level assembly table make things a lot
easier.
Find a woodworker's club, if possible, and make a few friends and mentors.
Safer working, and you'll learn more easily what the books' writers are
trying to convey.

I built my first kitchen cabinets with the assistance of "Building your own
kitchen cabinets" by Jere Cary. Apparently, it's out of print but it was the
most appropriate book for me at the time. I suggest that's what you look
for, a book that makes sense to you and appears to detail what you have in
mind.
