I posted pictures at a.b.p.w of the tool chest that I have been working on.
Some of you wanted to see finished pictures.
In addition to the details provided I also used KV full extension 100# self
closing slides.
I will probably modify the insides of the drawers a bit more but for the
most part the chest can begin absorbing the over flow of tools. ;~)
Comments or suggestions welcome.

Just lucky choices. Thanks Robert.

I am very happy with the handles also. I wanted and got a wide rech area
and I can put my full grip around the handle without my fingers bumping into
to drawer front.

Ok, I did cut Bandsaw DT's except they look like rabbets. :~) Actually I
cut the handles on the bandsaw with a quick jig that afforded me the ability
to cut the outside and inside radius cuts with easy repeatability and
accuracy.

Similar tool box from Sears - $2,000
Similar tool box from Snap-On - $5,000
Doing it yourself - Priceless!
Not to mention it save a ton-o-dough!
Very nice work Leon
Dave
I am a little late getting here Leon, but man that chest is gorgeous.
I like the feel of it being a woodworking tool cabinet, not just a set
of modified mechanic's Snap On tool box.
Like some of the others here, I really like the handles. A great touch
to be sure, but a really useful design.
Thinking of Swingman's post, please tell me you cut bandsaw dovetails
with the new Italian in your workshop....
(Just kidding!)

Thank you sir.
Drawer Joinery? Ugly. LOL
This is a Tool box. It started out to be cheap simple storage but....
LOL I used rabbets on the drawers corners reinforced with brads and
dado's for the drawer bottoms.
Great job Mr. Leon!
I have mulled over a similar project but have yet to get to it.
I thought the drawer faces really had character and fit right in to the
workshop.
If(when) it fills up, do you think it will be very difficult to move? I
have not used casters that large on a cabinet and am just wondering.
If I do one at some point I hope this area(Austin area) will have the
same quality materials and hardware available.
Enjoy it sir!

Google doesn't supply access to binary newsgroups. Your only choice is to
have someone email you the pictures or you can join a free group or one of
the cheap ones. Teranews supplies a high speed connection to usenet with 50
megs a day download access for a one time fee of $3.95.

I know the feeling. I poindered spending 1K+ for a larger steel roll around
and top box.

That wood does have character. I did not realise how good it looked until I
varnished the handles. I love the color and have quite a bit more for a
real piece of furniture that I want to have that "old" look.
> If(when) it fills up, do you think it will be very difficult to move?
No. Empty, my wife can push it around with her finger.

Thank you Steve,
I drew the plans on Auto CAD LT and will post as a PDF file on a.b.p.w.
since you asked. Keep in mind that these drawings get modified as I go and
in most cases do not have every detail. I typically add details that I need
to see before I actually build a particular part. I bought the casters at
my local Northern Tool for about $30. I bought the plywood from Hardwood
Products in Houston, Oak from a M&G Saw Mill in Huntsville, TX. Drawer
Slides from Cornerstone Hardware in Houston.
I think the cabinet will easily handle 900 lbs. The weight is carried by
the 3/4" plywood sides which are reinforced and set into 1/4" deep dado's
in the front and back face frames.

Yeah that might be true had I not built her a chest similar to this that
houses a Long Arm sewing machine and all her quilting tools. The jewelry
would fit in a kitchen match box.

You need to go to alt.binaries,pictures.woodworking to view this. (abpw)
Not all newsreaders allow this. It is pretty obvious when you get there
which thread it is. It is called Finished Tool Chest.

What a smashing piece of work! If I had something that gorgeous in my
shop, SWMBO would lay claim to it in a NY minute.

Absolutely, no compromises.

Yes
That is an absolutely gorgeous tool chest / roll cab. And to think all these
years I thought my Snap-On boxes were as nice as they get . . . . Looks like
the Laguna has inspired you . . . This is very much in line with the types
of projects I hope to build in my new (1st) workshop . . . I'm sure I will

Again, very nice roll cab ! ! ! !
