Hey JOAT,
Just thought I'd mention that I really like looking at the plans you
dredge up, er, um 'find'.
I've been looking at various plans for a horizontal router table. WHat's
the best one you've come up with? (simple design and construction, good
workholding / guidance. I've got a couple panels of 3/4 baltic birch in
the nasement that are just itching to help me levitate a 2.5 hp plunge
router to serve as a morticing machine par el cheapo.
Best one I've seen thus far is in a heavily discounted (photos from the
1960's) router book found at my local junk-book outlet.

I keep telling you guys, they're side-effects from searches for
stuff for myself. If you guy'd google you'd come up with good stuff
too. If I wanted a target stand I sure wouldn't need plans - take a
stiff piece of wire, put two bends in it, stick it in the ground, two
clothes pins, viola, custom target stand.
Best? Easy. The latest version of my router table. It looks
good, and does just what I want it to. Plans? No plans. Why would I
need steenkin' plans? I sat down, thought about what I wanted, or
needed, measured, cut, drilled, put it together. No prob. It's the 3d
or 4th version, and if I've got over $20 total in it all I'd be
surprised.
If I wanted to set up a router in a table to do mortising, I'd do
it the same way - except add hardware - threaded rod, T-nuts, handles,
et al, all available from the local Ace, for adjustments. No prob.
If the first one doesn't work out, it's a prototype; take it apart,
make a new one. Repeat as needed. It ain't rocket science.
