Just came back from Spain with a wonderful artist print of an lone Olive
tree....now that I'm back in the Midwest, it occurred to me that I should
frame this print with olive wood.
Any ideas on where I might find 1" thick by 1.5+" wide to make a 5 x 7
frame.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciate.

Olive wood in short narrow sections is available from most suppliers
of turning timber.
I've also scrounged olive wood from a local olive seller. They have
huge serving ladles turned in olive wood. When they import them
they're clearly not quite dry when they're shipped and some of them
have the bowls crack in transit. The handle is still a useful turning
blank.
I also bought some a while ago from a market trader in Florence
(outside San Spirito, if you're looking). I needed lunch, and I needed
a plate to eat it from. So I bought the usual lunch fodder and a
nicely turned olivewood platter from this guy. He also sold
cheeseboards - very simply made from a waney-edged olivewood plank
about 6" - 8" wide. A couple of these followed me home too, as they
were cheaper than buying the timber from a local specialist.

Be very careful that it's dry and stable. Olive wood is a swine for
warping and (somewhat) for cracking.
