Come on, do you really believe all that?
They rebuild the case with new parts? What parts? Once I see any part of claim to be
suspicious, I am suspicious of anything related to it.
AFAIK, if a customer returns a tool simply because they don't like it, it can't be sold as new.
So it goes it through its testing and the tech finds nothing wrong. What "new parts" does he
rebuild it with? I guess if they replace even a single screw, they are being true to their word,
but at that point it's just a game of words.
What the testing consist of? Let's look at the saw in question. I seriously doubt they cut a
a compound miter in a piece of crown molding and then clean all the sawdust from each
noon and cranny before boxing it back up.
Saying that they test it doesn't impress me.
>

That's true. A new tool starts disassembled and is built with all new parts. Hopefully that is done
under strict manufacturing guidelines. If not, then the company is going to be selling a lot (all?)
of thier tools labeled as reburbished after they get returned and rebuilt.
I'm not saying that refurbished items aren't a great deal. I've bought a few in my day. I'm just
saying that the claim you posted seems more like marketing-speak than truth.

That may be true in some cases, but in many cases the same warranty applies to the
refurbished item as applies to a new one. I'm typing on such an item right now.
Well, not right *now*. Wait, yes I am, but it's my now, not your now.

It may be a new saw. Some manufacturers make the same exact product and
mark some cartons "reconditioned" so outlet stores can sell them at a
reduced price. That way you don't piss off the regular sellers that
sell them at list price.
I don't know specifically if Bosch does that but I've seen it at some
other plants over the years. I used to go into a lot of factories and
saw a lot of thing like that. Appliances the same way.
I have at least three hybrids of St. Augustine on my property.
St. Aug is a few hours away and grass farms are all about.
I get it maybe 6-7" thick when it is fed water and mowed high.
Deep green. I mow down to 5" then down to 3" to winter.
Then it springs upwards again - faster than I can cut so I let it
grow to hide the roots from the hot dry sun.

My response to Leon involved the concept of "now".
Read up on St. Augustine's thoughts on past, present and future.
Hint: He argues that only one of those three actually exists.

have seen it done online for sure and it is usually done by the
manufacturer so as not to anger their distributors
the word reconditioned might also have some vague meaning that could
introduce the right amount of plausible deniability
so if it ever comes up they can just argue ad nauseum about that word
as lawyers love to do

Each tool is disassembled, inspected, cleaned, rebuilt with new parts, tested, calibrated to exact specifications and fully restored to pristine condition by hand. And that includes the case it came in.
new tools do not get that attention

DerbyDad03 <[email protected]> wrote:
> Come on, do you really believe all that?
first point of the thread was just to point out a good deal
the other point was that reconditioned can mean something or nothing at
all
and in fact using that term gives the manufacturer a way to undercut their
own distributor pricing while not digging into the customer base of their
distributor
so the wording just gives them plausible deniability if they are ever called
out on it
so a reconditioned might never had any extra hands on and is just the
same as a new one that comes right off the assembly line into a box
but they also really do have real reconditioned products but maybe
they have so few due to cad and cam so they sell new ones as to
attract customers to the reconditioned sales channel
