New grizzly machines

There's been talk here and on woodnet about some new machines. I'm not
sure if it's old news or not but the grizzly ad in the latest Woodwork
magazine has some of the new machines. It looks like there's going to
be a g0490 which looks like a dj-20 copy with parallelogram tables.
It's 1" longer and a little lighter than the 586. Looks like fewer
cuts per minute also. But the infeed table is longer just like the
dj-20.

They also have a picture of the new mini 12" drum sander. I was under
the impression that it would be the size of a lunchbox planer. I guess
it looks like that but the ad says 200lbs.

They also have new 15" and 20" planers which look just like the shopfox
versions now only with some green paint. They also look to be about
$250 less than the old machines. Looks like china vs taiwan. All of
the big machines have those shopfox style mobile bases as well.

The 10" jointer isn't in the ad. I did see a picture of it in one of
the other recent woodworking mags though.

I agree it is a great buy, but it is out of my league.
They aren't replacing the cheap one? I will just have to soldier on with my
12".

The new one is the closed base one with the motor in the base, not the
motor on top version. 3hp motor. It looks identical to the g1021z
only with cast iron infeed and outfeed tables now instead of the roller
tables. That one was $1095, now it looks like it's on sale for $995.
The new one is the g0453. It's $775 in the ad. The paint scheme is a
little different also, it's the green/cream colors like the other new
machines. The real cool thing is that for $80 more than the old price
of the 15" planer, you can now get the 5hp 20" planer.

I've heard good things about the new 10" jointer also. I think they're
trying to go after that 10" oliver. The oliver is $2000 iirc. Since
the dj-20 is around $1300, and the grizzly copy is around $750, I bet
the new 10" jointer with straight blades will come in around $1175.
And I know there will be a version with the spiral cutter head.

They're probably replacing everything that was made in taiwan. I've
only seen what's in this ad.

Their old open base 15" is reduced to $575.
How much is the new one?
I think that is my next upgrade.

Nothing like good old competition to keep everyone on their toes, and prices
in check.
