For rough hogging of wood, probably OK. Tool longevity of a $60 PC, iffy.

I have a yellow one that looks almost identical. Has always worked
great and fast, but haven't needed it often. Forgot what project I
got it for.

Looking at those prices my reaction is "WTF, has
Porter Cable become the competing brand to
Chicago Electric"? I remember when Porter Cable
meant exceedingly well made professional tools
priced accordingly.

'tain't rocket surgery. They're great for knocking down a swollen door.
For putting a bevel on an un-beveled door. They're good for
straightening wood on a job when you don't have a TS or bench planer.
They're great for just knocking of a tad bit from trim while keeping a
nice, straight edge. Go slow and they leave a finished edge... or at
least one that a couple passes with 120 will leave finished.
