Don't think I'd wear those.....
The following link shows some shoes that are good in the rain, or
washing a car, or being around water (but not good in mud):

I use them in the workshop because they are so comfortable. The
neighbors make fun of my blue shoes! However, tey are selling like hot
cakes in Boulder/Denver Colorado. The kiosk at the local mall
(Flatirons Crossing) sold just under $250,000 worth last year. At about
$35 per pair, that's about 7000 pairs.
I share you sentiments about Boulder but not those about the shoes.
Sounds like you and CW are a little ol fashioned. Still wearing wing
tips? Or penney loafers?
I think you should be trying to figure out how to invest in Crocs. Butt
ugly or not, they are a wave of the future.....IMO.
Better than buying shoes made in Asia.
George, I don't think my first response got through. Here goes again.
Thanks for the backup. I don't think the other posters have ever tried
Crocs. They can't imagine the "plastic" these are made of: "plastic" is
an oversimplification.
My daughter works at a hospital and over half the nurses in the
emergency room wear them for the reasons you cited.
I manange 35 software negineers. About ten of them own and wear them.
Although some are not brave enough to wear the colored ones so they go
with black or brown.
BTW, the heel strap also swings forward out of the way, for those that
don't like it.
I worked in my shop and did yard work all weekend in my bright blue
Crocs. Amazing comfort. I still need to figure out how to get stock in
the company.
yea i thought 35.00 for these shoes was crazy too.
but my wife thought they was cute...
now i see her wear them all the time.
she likes them so much and since i see her wear them, i'm almost inclined to
buy myself a pair.
any other house shoe i've bought in the past for her she iether wears them
out or just stops wearing them.
she has the open toe version, the croc's are now almost 2 years old, she
wears them inside and around the yard, and often after work when we need to
go to town, she will wear them shopping.

Tennis shoes (ok, that's betraying age), walking shoes at home, I like
Rockports for work. Never owned a set of penny loafers in my life.

Half the price of the Birki of similar function, and still decent arch
support. If only they didn't have that dumb heel strap.
Detractors should take a few trips out to hang laundry on dew-soaked grass
or cultivate the garden before the heat of the day before they worry about
color. Dunk, soak, dry and wear.
Real popular in hospitals not just because of the comfort factor, but
because they can be cleaned so thoroughly.

I've got a pair of penny loafers- they go good with my pinstriped
suit. Nothing wrong with the old styles. I kinda wish they'd come
back, really- I'm getting a bit tired of all the young folks looking
like they just stepped out of the 70's. All that goofy crap comes and
goes, but a good suit is always makes a guy look his best. Ladies
used to look a lot nicer to my eye as well (judging from the pictures,
anyhow- I wasn't around then!)

Boots. All that I own. Haven't had a pair of shoes in years.

Somehow I doubt that my employers are going to be telling me to get
rid of my leather and steel-toed Cats in favor of multi-colored
plastic shoes at any point in the near *or* distant future. A shoe's
a shoe, but a peice of molded plastic on your feet is just wrong, IMO.

I live, play, and work in Reebok Classics nowadays. <$30/pair, life is
1.5-2 years, and they have the perfect arch support for my feet. I've
hiked upwards of 6 miles in a day with them and never found a single
blister. For rock climbing, I need to find a better pair of ankle
height boots with vibram soles.
>walking shoes at home, I like Rockports for work.
Hush Puppies leather "The Body Shoe" walking shoes were found to be a
PERFECT fit when I was about 40. They looked like dress shoes so I
wore them to meet clients. Then Dad passed on his nearly unworn SAS
leathers to me and I wear them as "go-to-meetin'" shoes now. (rare)
>Never owned a set of penny loafers in my life.
I practically lived in Hush Puppies until I turned 20. If I dropped
something, I could slip one off, pick up the object with my toes,
grab it, and slip the shoe back on in 3 seconds without having to bend
over. Being quintradextrous has its advantages. [insert monkey sounds
here] ;)

Heh. I'd expect that for each person who is glad that no animals are
killed to make the things, there'd be two others whining about the
evil petrochemicals that go into the plastic. [says the DU alumnus]
