Nope. Great little plung router - have two - one in the
router table and one for hand held. The only shortcoming
is the small base. That's fixed by getting one of
Pat Warner's Offset Bases.
Compared to the Porter Cable (I've got the D-handle 691
or is it 693?) the DW 621 is quiet. The variable speed
is handy if you're going to spin larger diameter router
bits. The plunge action is SMOOTH and the built in
dust collection works very well. You will have to take
the plastic dust collector thing off the unit if you're
going to use it in a router table - it gets in the way
when changing bits and limits you're depth of cut.
If you later put it in a router table you'll have to
remove the plunge return spring - which is easy
to do - and make yourself one of these DooHickies

Nice router - have fun with it.

PS Pat Warner - a router guru highly recomends the DW621
I've had one for about four years using it freehand and in a table and
its very good. No problems at all. It took about a week to get used
to the switch and its trigger lock.
Last week I had to rout some long ventilation slots into a built in
MDF cabinet in my living room. Got a projection TV and cable box
which throw off a lot more heat and the built in is a tighter fit. I
used the 621 and my shop vacuum with a 3/8 spiral bit. Clean up after
the cuts (nine of them at 10 inches long) was just a light vacuuming.
SWMBO was absolutely amazed that the dust collection system worked so
well. Yesterday she told our son what a great tool it was. Best
recommendation I can repeat.

Rocker? Mine has a trigger switch of sorts on the handle. Could this be a
change from what you have? Mine is 3 years old.
BTW, I paid $159 so the $129 seems to be a good deal.
I've had a 621 for 5 or so years and I love it. I've used it both
hand-held and in a table and I have nothing but good to say about it.
From what I understand, DW factory-reconditioned tools are as good as
new and sometimes even better. And $129 sounds like a very good
price. I'd say go for it.

I have one. I've been very happy with it. The round handles, rotating
plunge lock, and trigger switch all take a little getting used to, but
really are no big deal.

Personally, I always hated the `rocker' switch on the 621. DeWalt
people who I told this to would say ``You get used to it.'' not the
kind of answer i like.
