Jet 14" CSW Bandsaw over Grizzly G0555?

Trying to decide here. Like the Jet closed cabinet, it has more kudos than
the Grizzly, expands to 12" compared to Grizzly's 10", and costs 100 dollars
more (not including any differences in expander block prices).

Embarrassing to admit that my main reason for leaning to Jet is that my shop
is mostly Grizzly green.

Opinions?

Except the Jet doesn't come with the fence or miter slide like the Grizz.
And at Jet's prices, that adds another $175 to be comparing apples to
apples.

I've got both brands in my shop, and they all work well. I have used both
the Jet and the Grizz saws, and you'd have to show me something I haven't
seen to make me think it's worth the extra. I see a lot of guys who talk
themself into believing they paid more for a "good" reason that's just not
there. It's OK by me, and there are definitely those times where one is
clearly better....this is just not one. At least not for the difference in
dough. I see several posts on here where guys say stuff like "My Unisaur is
better than a BT3100". Well DUH, let's compare apples with submarines. Or
my Jet 18" BS will kick the hell out of a Harbor Freight 14" BS. But with a
good blade, both the Grizz G0555 and the Jet 14 CS make darned nice cuts!
From there you are on your own to figure out the difference in price.

I was relying on an old comparison article in #88 AW. They were actually
talking about the 1019, which also claims a 13.5", as does the 0555, I
believe. Maybe they changed the 1019 after the article?

Not that I'll ever be resawing anything of even the 10" size for a while.

I've not used the Jet, but I can recommend the Grizzly G0555. I have
one, and with a Timberwolf blade I am easily making 1/16" veneers (I
think I could go thinner, but my veneers are for marquetry, and so
thinner isn't really better).

Color schmolor :-). I have a Jet table saw, a Dewalt planer, a
Sunhill jointer, and a Grizzly bandsaw -- so I've got tan, yellow,
blue, and green. Frankly, they all appear to be of similarly good
quality, at least for the purposes and standards of an amateur like
me.

Cheers,
Nate

they aren't in the same league as the Jet products we own. For me, the
quality was worth the extra expense. Pay now, or pay again later. I've
already done that mistake too many times in the past!

Got a 'Grizz Green' Benchtop Radial Drill Press and a 'Sand' JET 14" OS
Bandsaw. Got them 'On Sale' - included the Fence and Miter. Never looked
back.{Also, still in the box, a 'School Bus Yellow' Surface Planer}.

Add to this a smattering of Blue, Black, & Green 'hand-held & bench
mounted' power tools; 'collected' over the years.

Whatever gets the job done . . . at MY price.

Regards & Good Luck,

PS: Digger, thanks again for the 'coupon' !!

Just one - good luck on getting some advice since I doubt few people (if
any) would actually own both. I suppoz there could be someone out there
who's used both.

I own the Jet. I like it just fine. As someone else pointed out - add in
the cost of a fence if you want to do a comparison. I got a good deal on my
Jet. Had I not, I might have bought the Griz.

What do you mean by "the Jet... 12" compared to Grizzly's 10"? Are you referring to the riser block kit? If so, the G0555 expands
to 12 " as well. I have one and spent the weekend sawing 24 to 42" Black Walnut logs into lumber. I was using a G0555 Bandsaw to
cut the logs and a DW 735 Planer to finish the stuff I cut this spring. I did a lot of comparison shopping before buying the
Grizzly and I have no regrets.
