Canadian BORG has a heart

As much as I hate to admit it, I have to defend our BORG.

My brother's wife contracted West Nile Virus last September which
turned her from a healthy 46 year-old woman to a quadriplegic in FIVE
DAYS. Now, almost a year later, she has some very limited mobility
returning so the hospital has decided she can be taken home for short
periods of time on weekends.

So, my brother phoned HD head office in Canada who referred him to the
manageress of the HD closest to where he lives. After he *briefly*
explained the situation, he asked her if HD would consider donating
anything to help him retrofit their tiny house with ramps for her
wheelchair. The manageress gave him an immediate "We'd be glad to help
out." She didn't ask for a written request to be submitted or any other
delaying procedural crap.

They sent out a deck specialist *the* *same* *day* who decided my
brother's house needed TWO ramps with a platform in the middle, one
ramp going down towards the rear gate and one towards the front of the
house and drew preliminary plans for him. The only drawback was that
for legal/liability reasons, the store could not build the ramps and
the deck for him but would supply everything needed. The next day, the
store had all the PT lumber loaded on a truck for immediate delivery
but was held up because the same manageress whose signature was needed
for the delivery was off sick.

*Everything* that would be needed was delivered the following day when
she returned to work. A lot of the wood was 16 footers of 2x6 or 2x8
(?). My brother estimates that she sent him more than $1500 worth of
lumber alone.

I am truly impressed at the heart shown by the BORG in this case.

Gerry

Don't ask, don't tell, don't pursue, don't harass. It works for Christians
in the military.

How do you know she isn't one. Maybe they just don't like nut cases
with delusions of adequacy.

Good for HD, your brother, and his wife. I hope she continues to get
better.
