I'm designing kitchen cabinets this is my first attempt. I have
loads of questions. My aim is frameless (to make the best use of
interior space) the lower cabinets all in drawers with over extension
slides. I think I want drawers fronts 36" wide and 24"slides 9"
deep (that would be the bottom drawer). Including potential
overloading problems is there any reason to split them up. To use 2
narrower drawers instead of 1 wide one. Is the Accuride overextension
slide the weak link here? Would a beefier drawer box help?
I plan to finish with paint I saw some =BE MDO at the home centre. I
think it would make a great paintable surface. I guess I could use
poplar for banding the edges.
The cost is about the same as cabinet grade.
Advice would be appreciated=20
Thanks
Hi Hunnert,
FWIW, I have a bunch of 36wide x 24 deep trays
in the shop. Made them with 3/4 ply bottoms &
poplar sides about 3" high.
Some are loaded up pretty well with power
hand tools - routers, saws, drills etc.
I used KV full extension 100# slides.
No problems in 5+ years.

Pick up some heavy duty full-extension drawer glides from Lee Valley.
We renovated our kitchen and a friend of mine in the trade suggested
this. This advice was outstanding and you won't regret it. The price
is not too bad and well worth it!
