Any tips for uncovering glue before staining?

This months wood magazine says that you can use Naptha to uncover any glue
on projects before staining. Has anyone used this method? I tried to find
naptha in the stores and all i can find is VM&P Naptha. is that the same?
Are there any other tricks?

Thanks

Stacey

The only "trick" is to use a solvent to highlight the grain and show up
the glue where there is little or no absorbence. Paint thinner would be
as effective and cheaper.

Hi Stacey,
If you plan on finishing using WB products, wiping with denatured alcohol
(ethanol) to expose the glue is a better idea. Cheers, JG

Another trick is to use a UV-fluorescent additive in the glue.
Blacklight it to find where to clean up. Google it.
