I'm certain this has been posted before but here's another great
example of how much fun a mobile base can be. My Dad was helping me
during a production run of planing 32 boards, 6 inches by 6 feet, 4/4
thick. I was feeding the boards and he was catching and stacking them.
We needed to run them again but instead of transferring them to the
original feed side I simply turned the planer around and passed them
through. Cut the work time down significantly.
On a different note, I was amazed how quickly the 30 gallon first stage
of my DC filled up (twice) with all of the shavings.
The best part though is that I got a rare chance to do something fun
with my Dad. He also helped with the ripping and rabbeting of the
boards. I know he really enjoyed helping me and I made him aware that
without his help it would have taken me a few hours longer if I had to
move boards off the outfeed table and stack them. Made the cost of my
woodworking gear seem a lot less than it really is.
