Of course, if you consider respiratory health vs. simple dust collection,
then a one-micron filter might not be the best choice. Among the dust
particles that could contribute to respiratory problems are those in the
sub-micron range. If I understand filter operation correctly, 1-micron
filters pass all of the dust in the sub-micron range right on through and
back into the shop. Your lungs do the final filtering, unless you wear a
respirator, too.
