Go look at the Giganews home page, where they boast 200 days of binary
retention.
Your ISP is lying to you.

Yes, I had a word with my ISP who use Giganews as their source and he said
they take everything Giganews carry. If Giganews don't carry it he is
unable to help. I downloaded and examined the active list, there are no
binaries there. There are some biyaries, biniaries and bineries but not
what we want.

Well, I checked with him again and he assured me he had signed up for the
full feed.
However, To quote a subsequent email from him
------------------------------------------------------------------------
"I've just manually stopped and restarted the news server, forcing an
update from Giganews of all the newsgroups. You may want to delete the
active list in Newshound and then re-fetch a list of newsgroups."
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Downloading and loading the new active list into a spreadsheet I find
alt.binaries. starts at row 3872 and extends to row 10459! Also chunks of
alt.bainaries and a few other strange spellings.
Alt.binaries.pictures.woodworking is included and I have successfully
downloaded a batch of posts :-)

I have comcast and giganews provides the newsgroups to them. And they do
carry the binaries. Imagine, they were being less than truthful to you!
I guess they need to protect all the little children from all of us
woodworkers. Don't you feel safer already?

That is correct. I use Giganews and I still have ABPW.

Your ISP lied to you ... Giganews carries ALL the binaries. You are being
censored.

A lot of the ISP's no longer carry it.
The pretend reason is that they are combatting child pornography.
Something to do with a scumbag, New York attorney general.
You will need to subscribe to a service that still carries the alt groups.

Sadly, many ISPs have dropped alt.binaries, stating child porn as the
reason. I have asked my ISP to provide ABPW, but it fell on deaf
ears.

I think they may have told you a fib! I use giganews and have no
problem getting binaries and alt groups.
