the nFilter/NewsProxy 'basic' filter set at
<http://www.r-bonomi.com/rec.woodworking>
has been updated to include the latest mechanisms the resident troll is using.
nFilter/NewsProxy works with any 'standards compliant' (which eliminates the
one built-in to AOL's software) newsreader, and runs on a MS-Windows95, or
newer, platform.
For any other environment, if you have filtering/'killfile' capabilities in
your newsreader software, _and_ it supports "regular expressions", it should
be a _minor_ task to adapt the filter rules from any of my filter sets.
All the filter rulesets on the web-site use information that is almost
universally in the 'overview' file, so even if you are limited to 'only'
that information for filtering, these rulesets should be a useful starting
point.
For _any_ software out there, that more than a few people use, I'll put
up parallel filter sets in _that_ software's format, *if* somebody can
supply some samples. I already 'auto-convert' from what I use, to the
nFilter/NewsProxy format for the web-site; adding other conversion(s)
is merely a bit of 'one-time' effort.
