"Rolling Lumber Rack" - wordworker's journal

Like the person who posted a while back, I'm looking for a copy of
Woodworker's Journal: Volume 27 Issue 6 Page 75. Nov/Dec 2003
Specifically the plans for the "rolling Lumber Rack".

http://www.woodworkersjournal.com/plans/index.cfm/plan_details/5/13/1865

It would be great if someone could scan the few pages that the plans
took up or even send me a copy of the issue??

Caster prices can seem fairly exhorbitant. Sad thing is the good ones
are worth it. Pay attention to the caster load ratings and don't push
your luck overloading them and they'll last a long time. I like the
polyurethane wheels.

I found the article, scanned it and sent to pictures to the OP. I
can't tell if he ever got it. It didn't bounce. Maybe we're all too
cute with this "protect my email address" technique.

If you're gonna ask for copywrited material, don't expect it to be
posted here. Give a real address.

Anybody need help ripping from LP's, cassettes, etc. ???? Jeez, that's
pretty basic stuff!! I suppose I could purport myself an expert on cut and
paste and post a webpage about that.

I heartily agree. However, I found what I thought were relatively good buys
($13), and not at any of BORGs. Mcmaster Carr had some good choices, although I
was able to get mine locally. Make sure there are bearings in the wheels - and
at load ratings of 300+ lbs, many will have roller bearings. I was very
pleasantly surprised at how easy mine is to roll around...even when loaded up.

I did make a few improvements - the base seemed a little skimpy, so I built a
2x4 frame to support the 3/4 ply deck. And I increased the overall width of the
thing by 4", adding that to the plywood storage space.

I think it's a lot easier to get sheet materials on and off the ShopNotes
design, and the WoodWorker's Journal design would need to be extended to fit my
5'x5' sheets of baltic birch ply. Then, that one probably has more horizontal
storage space for boards. YMMV.

Here's another version of a rolling lumber rack that is still in print...

If you call them, you can get a copy of a single article.

Oh yeah, I built that one a couple years ago. Still using it. Now that it's
fuller than it oughta be I need a four-foot pry bar to move it around, but
it does a great job.

I'm not sure if I'd need plans for the one at the top of this thread but
having the plans for this one helped a lot.

Not sure about which one I'd want. I really like having the cutoff bins but
the first one has a lot more racking space and there's no way the sheet
goods can fall out of that one. Occasionally, I've had a sheet fall over on
this one. Still a good storage system, though.

Whicher you build, do not, repeat not, skrimp on the casters. I didn't, but
it's obvious what would have happened if I hadn't. That's a lot of mass in
there.
