OT - LV Website changes (blatant commercial content!)

Hi -

Just a quick announcement of a few changes to our website, for those here
that requested them ages ago (we may not be fast - but at least we're slow).

1) You can now order without logging in, or registering.
(Unfortunately - you still have to pay...)

2) You can now choose to set a cookie to "remember who you are" - so
you don't have to log in.

3) If you're registered, and logged in - you can click on a button
(select order status, then the order you want to enquire about) and track
your order on-line.

4) Order confirmations now have an embedded order tracking link.

5) If you share an email address, and your order is a gift - you can
turn off the confirmation emails for that order...

I would certainly encourage all of you to test each of the changes
(preferably with multiple orders)... :)

Cheers -

Um, OK.

Awwwwwwwww, where's the fun in that?

Bueno.

Works for me!

As long as you never start sending spam, as so damned many folks
are nowadays, you're welcome to maintain it there.

>I would certainly encourage all of you to test each of the changes

Please put the beta-testing terms (80% off all orders from now on)
in writing and I'll be there in about a nanosec, Rob. (I just found
an order list I was going to place last March but didn't, so why
don't I just double that now under the BTT? Yeah, that's the ticket.)

Congrats on adding things which will make it easier for us to shop
there, you vile cad, you.

Just a follow up for the benefit of those who are curious. Gordon
Greig, Lee Valley's Manager of systems development, got back to me
yesterday and solved the problem. It was my misunderstanding on how to
set Opera's cookie control settings.

Hopefully (?) someday your site will remember my credit card number, like
amazon and a few other places. No, wait, I take that back - that would REALLY
make it too easy for me to simply hand over my salary check. :^)

p.s. I'm surprised anyone considers tracking an issue - your stuff usually
comes before the return key has fully sprung back!

But seriously, your operation is just the best!

Hey, with all that oil/grease/shaving mix, we can compress it and
make fake logs to burn in the fireplace and woodstove!

And speaking of woodstoves, it brings to mind the question

"Why can't I own Canadians?"

That question is among others at this site:
http://www.ipwebdesign.net/kaelisSpace/twisted_canadians.html

It should also put all the spam headered posts in perspective.

Hi Rob,

I tried placing an order earlier today using the "Opera" Web browser.
It seems to no longer work. (It worked OK on my last order, I think).
My shopping cart keeps on showing up empty after I've selected the
items, whether I'm logged in or not. My name also doesn't show up
after logging in.

Works fine on MS IE. I created my shopping cart using IE, and then
tried checking my shopping cart using Opera. It still shows up as
empty. (I haven't paid for it yet as there might be other items I
might need and I need to decide which new toy is on my priority list.)

It might be a result of my security settings on Opera, but yours is
one of the very few sites whose privacy policy I trust and I allow to
set cookies.

You might want your web guys/gals to contact me.
