All,
I am having some issues with burning on my table saw since I purchased my a
new blade. I have a 1 1/2 hp Jet contractor saw. The new blade is a FS
Tools 40t 10" blade. I have used a Super block to check the blade and fence
for square.
I have been cutting 4/4 alder. Also, what I have noticed is that if I feed
the board fairly fast, it does not burn so much. Seems like an unsafe
solution.
Thanks in advance,
Kev

Sounds like the blade is on backward.

Which edge ? Front or back ? Contact with the back (indicating poor
alignment) often causes burning.
Resin buildup ? Give it a clean (take it off, lay it flat in a plastic
tray, scrub with white spirit / mineral spirits).
Got another blade to try ? Could be less sharp than it ought to be.

Could be a lot of things. One common solution is to raise the blade
substantially so you have less of the cutting surface of the blade working
in the wood at any one time.
Is your wood properly square - not warped, twisted, cupped, etc?
You might try a blade lubricant. This eliminates some of the heat build up.
Since it's a new blade, shouldn't be any substantial pitch buildup on the
blade yet.
Is it a thin kerf blade? Might need a blade stiffener to eliminate excess
vibration in the blade that could cause this.
Just a few ideas off top of my head.
