About three years ago, my two sons came home after playing soccer at a local
school. " Dad, they're refurbishing Reception at the school and there's a
skip full of wood if you want it".
So off we went to have a look. Came home with 52 pieces of timber 5/4 x 5" x
52/54" long. It looked like hardwood from the sawn ends, but I didn't know
what (it was all painted, all 4 sides). I finally got round to putting it
through the planer over the last 2 days and took it to our local hardwood
specialist today to help me identify it. They said it was Sapele (40
boards), Meranti (8 boards) and Iroko (4 boards).
I recon about 115 board feet in all. God am I feeling smug.
