Does this qualify for a mini gloat?
I live in Southern California where the retail cost of wood is high. My
newxt door neighbor called me over and asked if I could tell what kind of
wood she had in her garage, which she was in the process of cleaning out. I
took a look and told her it was walnut.
She asked me if I wanted it before she threw it away so I said YES -
Got myself 18 pieces of 1x6x8' and 3 pcs 1x12x6' of good looking walnut.
Here in So Cal that's a few hundred bucks worth of walnut.

LOL! Reading my mind, Bob? I will definately make her something nice. Still
can't believe it - she asked me to look around in her garage and if I found
anything else I wanted - take it - was too shocked to do it over the weekend
but told her I'd take a look. AND she has a huge avocado tree filled with
large ripe avocados - very expensive in the markets.
This was my lucky weekend.

I would say that is a great mini gloat!!
Here in Southern Oregon, the cost of wood has gone sky high as well. Best
deal lately? renovation discards at our local elementary school. The
contractor began to question his reason for having a scrap truck standing
by!
