So what are you guys using? I have DSL, and I really like it EXCEPT
for the newsgroup access. I am supposed to have an easy portal to
NGs, but two chinese mathmeticians couldn't figure out how to set it
up.
I started with AOL years and years ago, and NG access was easy. Then
they took it out of the service package since overall, usage was so
small compared to their subscribers. (Remember when AOL actually WAS
a giant?)
Went to deja and loved it. Then started using Google groups a couple
of years ago. It has been mostly good, but not great. Recent changes
have made it better, but I have learned to copy my post to the
clipboard before posting as sometimes it doesn't post at all. I am
just in the habit of using Google now as I can access the NGs from any
internet capable computer any where I might be.
I was thinking of teranews, as they have a free reader and posting,
but don't know that much about it. A couple of guys on the turning ng
have it and seem to like it a lot.
Any thoughts?

I can't imagine how much bandwidth I would be using with another
source, but it couldn't be much. All I do is a couple of NGs, and no
binaries.
Seems photobucket, yahoo pictures, etc. are a lot more reliable.
Thanks for the info.

Hey... nothing wrong with spray cans! I use them for small projects
and for touch ups as needed.
Pictures! We need pictures! ;^)

Teranews free ($ 3.95 sign up fee last time I looked), at present I
have a Giganews account (11.95 for up to 11 gig per month), the ISP
account and Forte account (pricing below). All three feed to Agent at
the same time, Forte had (do not know whether it still is in effect) a
deal with 3 months free news server access with a purchase of Agent,
$2.95 per month after that for up to 7 gig per month.
Giganews account carries 100k+ groups, the other two about 35k+. But I
am a geek though.

Are you surprised? Google groups is a very limited portal into the richness
of Usenet.

I use earthlink.net for an ISP and Thunderbird for e-mail.
N/G access is part of the package.

I've noticed that before when looking for a particular message, then did
another search with a changed subject, or a different set of keywords, and
it popped up.
Google is not even the ghost of the old DejaNews, no matter how hard they
try to make you believe it ... they are part and parcel of the
"johnny-come-lately "corporate" internet.
.... it was really fun while it lasted.

Not to mention a bit of a spam house, and now being sued for 1
Billion.
