I am looking at some 16ga. nail guns on ebay, and I see a lot of P/C
FN250B and Bostich SB1664FN, and every know and then a Crapsman. which
one do most of you use out there? I would like to see if there is a
gun with auto touch ( not the Seq trigger). I don't read it on these
units. Can they be changed out?
Don D.
Yes, That is what I mean.
I see a past bidding on Bostich went for just over 100.00. Are they
that good? or is a gun a gun in brand names?

Never used the Bostitch, but I have the PC FN250 and I love it.
Absolutely no problems and it feels good in the hand. For what it's
worth. bc
Thanks BC, That is what I needed to here.

Just my 2 cents worth but all my guns are Campell Hausfeild. My first
one
lasted 10 years putting up room additions and houses. When it failed I
figured
that it didn't owe me a thing so I bought a new one that I equally
like. I can also
buy nails on Harborfreight.com for quite a bit less than the big box
stores.
Lou
Bill, I just bought bostich 1664, and 16250k on ebay yesterday.1664 for
60.00 includes shipping or so, and the 16250 for 96.00 new in box
including shipping.
that way Idon't have to change out nails, just guns. Now I hope I
remember what gun will have what in it. HA HA.

I guess just because I was bidding on both not knowing which one I was
going to win. I will most likley leve on set up with one size nails
and the other with another size. Plus the fact I bounce around and
forget to grab every thing I need. I will leave one at the asembly
table and the other at the work bench...
My wife asked the same Q also....

I assume "auto touch" means bump fire. If yes, the PC has to be modified.
They will send you the parts free upon request.

Do you have sufficient airflow? I have the same gun, and never had a misfire
yet.

It's time to throw all their damned tea in the harbor again.
I was framing my new garshop and had a professional carpenter helping me.
My dad has a Bostich framing nailer that he brought with him. In the
carpenter's opinion, the Bostich was the Cadillac. My only other data point
in my own P/C FC350. I don't know why, but I get a lot of misfires with it.

FC350 misfires:
I had a similar problem with my Paslode F350S. Here's the deal - I
used to leave nail strips in the magazine between uses and would
experience failure-to-feed problems. These nails are paper-collated
and doing so left them under follower-spring pressure.
I was told to remove all nails from the magazine at the end of the
day and reload when I was ready to use it again. That corrected my
problem. I did not have this problem with my round head nailer which
is plastic-collated.

Sounds like a good deal. Might I ask why you bought 2 16 ga guns?

If you do not respect a brand tool enough to call it by its Proper name,
don't buy it.
From there I would go with the brand that has been around the longest. PC
is relatively new and Bostich has been doing this for years. If you want
one of the best consider Senco, they have been making nail guns longer than
any one and their finish nail guns require no oil. I have had a Senco
finish nail gun for 18 years and it is still going strong. Pricey but it
has a nice feel and you will probably never have to replace it. I also
suggest going with a 15 gauge nailer for the added strength and more
predictable results when nailing into a knot or strange angles. With the
Senco you can hold the trigger and automatically shoot every time you bump
the gun guard against the work. I seldom use this feature on a finish nail
gun as I want to place the nail in an exact spot rather than in random
spots. It really takes no extra time to pull the trigger for each nail if
you are careful or fussy with nail placement. I would certainly want the
bump and shoot feature on a roofing or framing nail gun.

I picked up The 1664 and an 18 guage Bostich from the same seller on
E-bay for about $130 (including shipping) several months ago. I love
both of the guns. I found that if you keep your eyes open and be
patient, you will eventually find a good deal on most popular E-bay
items.
