Just wanted to pass this along to anyone in the Raleigh, NC area. I
kept passing an old warehouse in Fuquay-Varina that had a spray
painted sign out front that read "Discount Plywood". I finally
stopped and this guy had acres of wood, mostly panel type wood but
some rough sewn. Prices are ridiculously cheap. I bought 2 sheets of
clear mahagony (both sides) plywood for $17 a sheet and it's good
stuff...not a void yet. MDF is $15 and he had 6/4 mahagony for $2.75
bf. Not all of the stuff was priced this good but definitely worth a
visit. It's behind the flea market, right off of hiway 42 leaving
Fuquay-Varina.

Aarrrghh.
On the bright side, my older son told me that if my truck goes, he
will lend my his Suburban. Anything to keep from working on my Luv, and
finishing that. But, if that happens, I could get some, and just leave
it in the Suburban. Hehehehe
Transportation, and storage, all in one.
I haven't been down to FV in quite awhile, is that the tobacco

I live in Richmond, Va. We have a sister company that I visit every now and
then that i think is less than 10 miles from this place.
If I could get plywood at those prices, I would drive down.

Clayton is several miles from 40, as I recall.
Take 42 west, out of Clayton. It'll be on your left, just before
you hit 55. If you hit 55, you'll have gone too far, so turn around,
start back toward Clayton, and it'll be on your right. No prob.
You could cut cross country, and hit 42, or you could just come
down 70, and hit 42 in Clayton.
Or, if you're near where 40 and 42 cross, you could just pick it up
there. Just remember to go toward Fuquay Varina, not Clayton. LOL
Been a long time since I've been pit that way, but it should be
easy enough fo spot.

JOAT,
I didn't know you were in this area. Wherebouts? I'm not sure. It's
not the actual flea market, it's a big warehouse kind of behind it.
If you're on 401 and you take 55 towards Angier take the first left
(about 200 yards down 55) onto 42 you'd see the warehouse on your
right about 1/5 mile down.

OK, what place over by Wilson's Mills? Jeezzz, there are more places
popping up than I had been using to start with.
Gibsonville, Zebulon, Fuquay, Clayton, Wilson Mills. Almost as many as

I've been to Neuse and used some of their plywood. much better than the
borg and about the same price. very few voids and clean surfaces. Not
much in the way of hardwoods though.
My son in law lives over in Four Oaks, I will ask him about T E
Johnston. If things go as planned on Friday I might actually make stop
by the one in Wilson Mills.

Moot point anyway, truck needs a part, and work. So, right now I
am pretty much hurting for basic transportation, let alone hauling
lumber. Bah. Humbug. So, now I've gotta bug both kids until, either
one of them gets the part I need, takes me so I can get it, or provides
me something to drive so I can get it. Then there will be the thrill of
getting on their case until one or both does the work - I would, if just
to save the hassle, but my back and joints won't let me any more, so I'm
stuck with depending on them. Ah well, could be worse. I could have
more than two. LOL

Dave,
I went by there today and you some prices for cherry plywood...1/8 -
$16, 1/4 - $27, 1/2 - $35, 3/4 - $48. I'm not sure if that's a good
price or because I've never bought any.
I never mentioned the name of this place...it's Jackson International
