ST. PAUL - A St. Paul police officer was killed by a roadside bomb in Iraq
on Thursday, his department announced.
Officer Kyle M. Kaszynski was working for a private security consulting
firm. He was in a convoy that was escorting correctional advisers from
Baghdad to Baquba, Iraq, when it was attacked Thursday morning, the St. Paul
Police Department announced.
One other person in his vehicle was killed, and three other passengers were
seriously injured, the department said.
Kaszynski went on leave from the department in October to work for Kroll
Inc., helping with an international effort to restore police functions in
Iraq, the department said.
He was a seven-year veteran of the St. Paul Police Department. He is
survived by his wife and 2-year-old daughter.
