Porter Cable model 334 to 333

So my PC sanders pad foam just disintegrated, I order a replacement
from e replacements. But I am getting the hook and loop replacement
rather than the PSA one, DONE with the stickey (or not) psa sanding
disks.

For years my experience has been to go with PSA because of the cost
factor being less. However I wore 3M PSA paper out rather quickly and
seldom changed grits before going through several changes of the same
grit. I never reused a piece of sand paper after changing grits.

Then I switched to Festool. Unfortunately Festool only offers the hook
and loop style paper.
HOWEVER the Festool paper is only marginally more expensive than the 3M
PSA paper and seriously out lasts the 3M PSA paper by 5~10 times longer.
I built a mid sized entertainment center for a customer and only used
one piece of each grit for the whole project. and that included sanding
down the top when the finish did not come out as I expected. The
Festool paper that I use is the Granat lite blue colored paper.

Double the price you are stating above, about $40 for 50 sheets of 5"
hook and loop but again when it lasts at least 5 times longer it becomes
pretty inexpensive by comparison.

Absolutely not worth the investment unless you are doing a lot of sanding.

Guess it just which aggravation you have put up with, the grass might
be a bit greener over there maybe?

Wrong direction in my book...the PS disks are _way_ over-priced in
comparison. And, I've had trouble with the knobbies wearing of those
and then they don't stick any longer, either...

I'm also aggravated they can't just leave the hole patterns alone...

I'll go for cheaper, virtually every time! :)

While one can do a little better, the ratio is generally pretty similar...

Mirka Gold 80G 50 H&L $20.74 100-400G $18.15
Mirka Gold 80G 100 PSA $32.22 100-400G $27.78

That's better than what I remembered at about 30% premium; seems like
last time I bought a bulk batch it was >50% premium. Maybe other folks
complained, too... :)
