Refacing a refacing job

Has anyone ever refaced a kitchen cabinet that had already been refaced
once before? How difficult is it to remove the first veneer?

I never have, but the difficulty should depend upon what material was
used as the new face. I have seen 1/4 inch hardwood ply used as a
facing and have seen models of formica facing.

The trick will be removing the old facing and leaving a smooth enough
surface that will not require too much work to even out.

A heat gun on old formica usually works pretty good.
