In wandering around the web today, I ran across some posts to an old
newsgroup (not ww) now defunct. I was amazed at the invective. A couple
of the posters responded with all the profanity and obscenity they could
spew anytime anyone disagreed with them.
We've gotten into some pretty heated discussions here from time to time,
but it's rare for anyone to resort to personal insults, and I've never
seen responses as bad as those from that group.
So to all who have agreed with my off topic rants, and all who have not,
my thanks and congrats. Seems this group is pretty civil.

Every time I need a smile, I look at that picture... that dog's 'look'
just cracks me up...
(I hope Moxie doesn't catch me looking at that picture, she'll bite
me.)
My nephew in Olathe KS has one like that and they bought it a leather
NASCAR jacket...I kid you not...# 3.
I can't even get it on my hand as a glove it is that tiny.
He stuffs it inside his own jacket and has its face poking out like a
scarf... hilarious!

You got it. And once they get going, there is no stopping them. They
work hard to out filth each other.
Then they turn on each other and really beat the crap out of one
another. It's almost a graveyard over there now as it got so
ridiculous no one wants to participate.
And there is NO way, NONE, NADA, ZERO possibility that you could ever
convince me that Sqwertz's mortal enemy Kent wasn't just him. Same
guy, different post style.
It shouldn't be lost that the two rarely post away from each other.
If one posts "the other" is usually right around the corner.
Seriously, there is something wrong with Steve. Or Squirts, Sqwerts,
Sqwertz, or "sw", depending on when he posts. I would guess he is an
alcoholic, and probably a bit of both.

Online ranting and invective is mild compared to what some Usenet flame
warriors get up to. I've seen newsgroups where people came to loathe each
other so deeply they took it offline, found out where their opponents lived
and worked, threatened violence, contacted their family members and
employers, tried to get them in trouble with the cops, anything they could
think of to mess up someone they knew only as the other side of a flame war.
Some folks take some things just a bit too seriously.

You would have to work hard to get nastier than it gets on
alt.food.barbecue.
There are a couple of nut jobs that post such foul profanity over
there that they have pretty much killed the group. And they are proud
of it!
If you seasoning wood isn't what use, they blast you. Got a favorite
style of barbecue? Better hit the group bully's sweet spot. One of
those insane nut jobs actually volunteered to drive to my house and
kick my ass to show me how tough he was. What a temptation....
Worse, he is such a craven coward that he limits his posts to a 7 day
window at which time they disappear. To top that off, he is his own
sock puppet. If he posts something that no one responds to, he posts

That's one hot'n'nasty lookin' passel o' pixelated woman if I ever
done seed one. Kathleen Turner's voice sure worked for her, didn't
it? Hubba, hubba!
--
Threee days before Tucson, Howard Dean explained that the
tea party movement is "the last gasp of the generation that
has trouble with diversity." Rising to the challenge of
lowering his reputation and the tone of public discourse,
Dean smeared tea partiers as racists: They oppose Obama's
agenda, Obama is African-American, ergo...
Let us hope that Dean is the last gasp of the generation
of liberals whose default position in any argument is to
indict opponents as racists. This McCarthyism of the left
-- devoid of intellectual content, unsupported by data --
is a mental tic, not an idea but a tactic for avoiding
engagement with ideas. It expresses limitless contempt for
the American people, who have reciprocated by reducing
liberalism to its current characteristics of electoral
weakness and bad sociology. --George Will 14 JAN 2011

Well the civility lasted about as long as, well you know.

My wife wants one of those (no, not the mop), but I'd prefer she settle
for a picture, so I sent her a copy. Thanks!

ANGER MANAGEMENT
When you occasionally have a really bad day, and you just need to take it
out on someone, don't take it out on someone you know, take it out on
someone you don't know.
I was sitting at my desk when I remembered a phone call I'd forgotten to
make. I found the number and dialed it.
A man answered, saying "Hello."
I politely said, "This is Chris. Could I please speak with Robin Carter?"
Suddenly the phone was slammed down on me. I couldn't believe that anyone
could be so rude.
I tracked down Robin's correct number and called her. I had transposed the
last two digits of her phone number. After hanging up with her, I decided
to call the 'wrong' number again. When the same guy answered the phone, I
yelled "You're an asshole!" and hung up.
I wrote his number down with the word 'asshole' next to it, and put it in my
desk drawer. Every couple of weeks, when I was paying bills or had a really
bad day, I'd call him up and yell, "You're an asshole!" It always cheered me
up.
When Caller ID came to our area, I thought my therapeutic 'asshole' calling
would have to stop. So, I called his number and said, "Hi, this is John
Smith from the telephone company. I'm calling to see if you're familiar
with our Caller ID Program?"
He yelled "NO!" and slammed down the phone.
I quickly called him back and said, "That's because you're an asshole!"
One day I was at the store, getting ready to pull into a parking spot. Some
guy in a black BMW cut me off and pulled into the spot I had patiently
waited for. I hit the horn and yelled that I'd been waiting for that spot.
The idiot ignored me. I noticed a "For Sale" sign in his car window, so I
wrote down his number.
A couple of days later, right after calling the first asshole (I had his
number on speed dial), I thought that I'd better call the BMW asshole, too.
I said, "Is this the man with the black BMW for sale?"
"Yes, it is."
"Can you tell me where I can see it?"
"Yes, I live at 1802 West 34th Street. It's a yellow house, and the car's
parked right out in front."
"What's your name?" I asked.
"My name is Don Hansen," he said.
"When's a good time to catch you, Don?"
"I'm home every evening after five."
"Listen, Don, can I tell you something?"
"Yes?"
"Don, you're an asshole." Then I hung up, and added his number to my speed
dial, too. Now, when I had a problem, I had two assholes to call.
But after several months of calling them, it wasn't as enjoyable as it used
to be. So, I came up with an idea. I called Asshole #1.
"Hello."
"You're an asshole!" (But I didn't hang up.)
"Are you still there?" he asked.
"Yeah," I said.
"Stop calling me," he screamed.
"Make me," I said.
"Who are you?" he asked.
"My name is Don Hansen."
"Yeah? Where do you live?"
"Asshole, I live at 1802 West 34th Street, a yellow house, with my black
Beamer parked in front."
He said, "I'm coming over right now, Don. And you had better start saying
your prayers."
I said, "Yeah, like I'm really scared, asshole."
Then I called Asshole #2.
"Hello?" he said.
"Hello, asshole," I said.
He yelled, "If I ever find out who you are..."
"You'll what?" I said.
"I'll kick your ass," he exclaimed.
I answered, "Well, asshole, here's your chance. I'm coming over right now."
Then I hung up and immediately called the police, saying that I lived at
1802 West 34th Street, and that I was on my way over there to kill my gay
lover.
Then I called Channel 13 News about the gang war going down on West 34th
Street.
I quickly got into my car and headed over to West 34th street. There I saw
two assholes beating the crap out of each other in front of six squad cars,
a police helicopter, and a news crew.
NOW I feel much better. Anger management really works.

them out of it like you did those wimps at the Secret Service!

You F'N STOOPID SOB! You don't know shit from Shinola (it's NOT a
town in Florida). How dare a dim-witted, DNA-challenged, F-nut like
you make such a determination! Go crawl back into the slimey,
scum-lined hole you came out of, and pull a rock in behind you to seal
off the stench. Read a book or two while you're in there, maybe learn
something.
Sheesh.

Steve definitely has issues.
I've quit reacting to him, life's too short to argue with someone that acts
15.
And you're right the group has fizzled lately, which is too bad, because
