I bought two planer joiners - a dewalt dw733 (I think that's the number)
and an elu (which was exactly the same, cept a different colour).
Both sold as "scrapped" - someone had removed the switches, and
angle-ground the blades off one (ba*tard), plus removed one of the
guards.
I paid 80 quid (English pounds)/ 150(?) US dollars for both.
Rebuilt the Elu to a working plane (10 quid / 18 dollars? for a NVR
switch, a couple of bolts and two hours aligning/sharpening), then sold
the remains of the second (de-walt coloured) on ebay for 150 quid (280
US).[1]
The 60 quid will pay for some new blades when I need them, and enough
scrap 1" RHS to make a stand.
[1]The buyer was ecstatic to get a nearly new planer frame for that
price since he'd cracked his and a replacement is 300UKP+ (550 US)
