Hey Sal - one other recommendation - include the text that you are replying
to. There are a lot of conversations in a usenet forum and it becomes easy
to lose track of any one of them. Without the included text that you are
replying to, it is very diffucult to associate your comments with something
that was previously said - even if the reader was the poster of the previous
comment.

I have had good success with Timbermate but you are going to have to
color it after it is in place. It takes color very well. Timbermate also
comes in various wood colors but as per usual, they never match the color
that I need.

Not your first post here Sal - and you have heard this response before. You
either have to provide more detail on what you are trying to accomplish -
what types of wood you are working with, what types of finish, etc., or you
cannot get an answer to your question. Please do not just come to a group
and throw out an generic question that you don't have the interest in
explaining, and expect people to just rise up to giving you an answer.
Invest yourself if you expect people to invest in you.

Sal - just from my personal experience... I have not ever had good luck with
wood fillers that will match color. What I have taken to doing is to fill
just a bit shy of the finish level, and then to use a blend stick to match
the finish color. Do the blending at the point of staining and prior to any
varnish coats. Won't always be perfect, but will give a very good blend.
Do your final fill with a blend stick, and let it run out beyond your fill
area by at least 50%, so that it sort of trails off into the surrounding
wood. Hopefully, you will achieve a blend out into the surrounding area
that the naked eye is not so inclined to notice.
