Time for New ROS - Any Suggestions?

It's time for me to retire my Bosch ROS. I never liked the dust
collection and now it has taken to unscrewing and letting go of the
entire sanding pad, hub and all and shooting it across the room.
Although I love my Bosch jigsaw, this tool has been a disappontment
from the beginning.

I'm not afraid to pay a little extra to get true quality. Does anyone
have recommendations for a quality ROS (do they even exist)?

Thanks,
Chuck

Nothing to talk about. I make my living sanding. Been there, done them
all.
I used the PC 6" ROS for years and years..and as they were dying, the
replacements were just not the same..so I switched to Fein..THEY make
nice sanders...then I tried a buddy's Festool...(can you hear the drag
whirring in the background? Yup, hook, line and sinker.) That Rotex RO
150 FEQ is simply the best.
Great dust collection, good balance, not cheap. They work all day and
with the new body style even more comfortable.

Do it. The ETS 150 is a lot cheaper, but it is not dual mode, but I
bet it's good too.

Here's sample of what kind of finish we get...that's JUST the sander
on acrylic solid surface..not tricks or gimmicks..no polishing
compands..just sandpaper.

I have the 3107 DVS It's bigger than a palm sander and I think that's
better for me because my hands get cramped up after awhile. It's
easier to hold onto and change positions.

I thought Bosch would be a good choice because I love my Bosch jigsaw
- a really fine tool. Not so for the ROS. I looked at the Festool ROS
that the guys have recommended but that is way more than I had in
mind; I'm a hobbyist, not a pro. I have to justify all my purchases
first to myself and then to the wife. As much as it looks like a
fantastic tool, and completely worthy of my insatiable tool lust, that
one is not going to fly.

I tried Loctite last weekend. Let it set and used the tool. Once
again, the pad started spinning out of control and then, as soon as
you let go of the trigger, it spins off and heads for the hills. I'll
try the Loctite again and see what happens but I never really liked
the quality and don't want to any spend money to repair it. Maybe I'll
look at the PC...

Thanks,
Chuck

Keep in mind that there are several strengths of LocTite. Since this is a
last ditch effort, you should probably try the strength that requires IIRC
"high heat" to break the bond.

Interesting...FWW rated the Bosch 1295 ROS as "best value" and "best
overall" for palm sanders.

Time to replace pad.

Had to get my 3727 rebuilt when the pad starting coming off, even with
LocTite; however, In all fairness, I was sanding some very abrasive stuff.

I took mine to the Bosch service center.

After they replaced some parts, works like a champ.

Not afraid to spend a little extra money??? Maybe a little more than a
little more? ;~)

I have a PC right angle ROS that I have been using since 1989 and love it,
but I'll go with the Festool Rotex next time.

Go here and watch the video

If it's a 3727, a little Loctite on the screw solves the problem.
