Another vote for the GS1023SL. I too replaced my Griz G1022 that I'd had
for a few years. Very happy, but then I didn't really have any complaints
about the G1022 except the fence could have been better. The contractor saw
that GRiz has today looks like a good one to me - has a good fence, cast
iron wings, good table surface and a very reasonable price for a saw like
that.

I had a similar experience with my order. (See below) I ordered my 1023S on
a Saturday and was able to pick it up at the loading dock on Wednesday. I
didn't get the message on the answering machine until I got home from work
on Tuesday. Otherwise I could have picked it up on Tuesday on the way home
from work.
I love it. It is very solid, super smooth, and quiet. I also give high marks
for the Shop Fox Classic, too. One shortfall is that you have to buy the
motor cover separate. At least on this model.
As for the newer Craftsmans, they are nice. From what I have heard, they
put a lot of time and effort into their packaging. The Biesemeyer fence is a
nice touch too. I do think that they have a very plasticy look to them and
the handwheels look cheap. Otherwise, a very nice set of saws. They also
seem to be the only thing Craftsman has recently put out that doesn't
inflate the HP rating.
The Grizzlys are very well priced. However, you will most likely need to run
additional power to your shop as they eat some amps. Don't forget to put
that into the equation. Even their contractor saw is listed at either 24
amps at 110 or 12 amps at 220. I had a subpanel in and I have no regrets.
Good luck,
Eric

I love my Gizzzly, left tilt, 3 horse, cabinet saw. Extremely good
value for the money.

Hey Ron...........You might think about replacing your old Craftsman
saw with the new Craftsman Professional with the Beismeyer fence. I
did and have been very happy that I did. It is such an improvement
over my old one! If you haven't taken a look you owe it to yourself!
Wait until the Craftsman Club sale goes on and the price is very good.
Best of luck!

I have to echo Ron's experience on delivery - two days later I had it
and the G0500 Jointer I ordered delivered to my house (I had to scurry
to arrange to move the things into the garage).

I love my G1023SL. Plenty of HP and very solid. I replaced my 12 year
old Grizzly contractor's TS. Sold the old TS on eBay for about $50 less
than I originally paid for it.

I have owned a Griz 1023S for about 2-1/2 years and love it. I too moved up
from a 23 year old Craftsman and there is little comparison. Plenty of
power, solid and the Shop Fox Classic fence is a very good Beismeier look
alike (I would stay away from their "Precision" Shop Fox fence - very
smooth, but several moving parts). Overall the 1023 looks, feels and acts
much like the Unisaws of several years ago.
If you call Grizzly they will provide the phone numbers of up to two people
in your area that have made similar purchases. I did this, after several
months of research, and the owner opinions pushed me over to my purchase.
By the way, the saw was delivered to the local trucking dock within 36 hours
of my internet order.

Very good point. Many trucking firms will arrange to deliver heavy freight
to your house - but NOT to unload. You have to arrange your own help and
see if they deliver with a lift gate truck.
I opted to pick it up at the dock with my pickup where the freight company
had very accommodating dock workers that help load it. Then I had a couple
of guys lined up to help he get it into the garage. Do minimal assembly
until you get it off of the truck and where you want it. The 1023 is a very
good candidate for a rolling base.
Hi, I bought the Griz 1022s a few months ago. I love it, strong, built like
a tank.
