Wreck Lunacy - A Statistical Fact!!!

The following shows the date that the full moon occurred on, the
number of actual posts on that date, the average number of posts per
day for that month and the deviation from the average, represented as
a percentage.

Stats are from MSR-Netscan:

http://netscan.research.microsoft.com/reportcard.asp?searchFor=rec.woodworking&

Full Moon Actual Posts Avg. # Daily Posts %

01/18/03 892 440 +103
02/16/03 537 466 +15
03/18/03 475 452 +5
04/16/03 375 366 +2
05/15/03 257 303 -15
06/14/03 397 341 +16
07/13/03 438 360 +22
08/11/03 534 391 +37
09/10/03 735 370 +99

NOTE: If Full Moon occurred on a weekend, stats for closest business
day were used.

That was my thought, but the meaninglessness of it was, I thought,
Tom's point.

Of course, that's true of many posts here these days, especially those
of the the "old timers" who seem to have little better to do than
attack people and yell "bad monkey".

Ah well, even they will pass. Gas, or stones, but they'll pass.

Well, makes more sense than yelling "good monkey".

Another perfectly good theory shot to hell by overlooked facts.
Sigh.

Why? Why are there no stats for the weekend? This really makes all
the data meaningless.

And are these UNIQUE posts?...or do they include hiccups?

And what server is the source for the compilation? Different servers
would provide different results. Is this really a reflection of the
server's efficiency?

Or we could save time & effort and jump to the obvious
conclusion that he is a werewolf and during full moons he
has a hard time working the keyboard with his paws.

Funny you should ask.

During the period between January 1, 2003 and September 30, 2003, the
Wreck, as a group posted at a rate 32.99% higher than it's daily
average, on the day of the Full Moon, while, on the same days, BAD had
a posting rate 48.81% lower than his personal average daily posting
rate, over the same period.

This may indicate that BAD is functioning in a manner that is
counter-cyclical to the group as a whole, which may, or may not,
explain some things, however, further study must be done.

Wolves are pack animals. BAD hasn't got the social skills.
