Inspect the brushes; if they have good length and are smooth on the
working end, blow off the dust and put 'em back in.
If they're short, consider putting new ones in.
If they're ragged on the working end, you need to disassemble
and clean (or lathe-turn) the commutator. Wipe with alcohol,
rub with metal polish (string dipped in polish and wrapped
around does it easy), or rub down with very fine sandpaper,
have all worked for me.
