I have a DeWalt 621 router, and am trying to construct a fence for it. It
has two holes in the base where stele bars
can be inserted and locked, but the router does not come with these parts
(nor any drawings!).
The hole diameter for the bar appears to be about 0.30 inches. Is it
designed for 1/4-inch rod, or would that be
a bit too loose?
The 4 tapped holes in the casting for locking the bars is a bit large for a
#12-24 screw, but the number of TPI
seems close. A 1/4" screw does not fit (too tight). Is this hole tapped for
a M6-1.0 screw?

Thanks for the replies. Got some M6-1.0 bolts, and they fit the tapped
holes on the DW621 perfectly. Fitted some wingnuts onto the bolts.
Was able to find 1/4 inch steel rod. The DW621 has a v-groove bottom , so
the M6 screws force the rod into the v-groove pretty firmly. Steel seems
pretty stiff over 12-18 inch length. A friend helped cut 1/4-20 threads
onto the last 2 inches of one end of each rod. This allows a wood or
aluminum fence to be bolted to the rods. The aluminum is planned to fit into
the slot on one of the popular brands of clampable stright-edge devices,
allowing the router to be completely guided by the slot.

The 621 router has 0.315 rods. The 625 has rods just shy of 0.400 and
are wider apart. The fences on the routers are custom and they do it
on purpose. Milwaukee body grip, however, can take the Porter Cable
690 base and the Porter Cable 690 fence (which is cheaper than the
Milwaukee. There are individual fences for the 621 & 625 and one that
fits both.
